Weddings at Netherurd

Netherurd House is a Georgian Mansion situated in 24 acres of gardens in the Scottish Borders, only a hop and a skip away from Edinburgh.

Built between 1791 and 1794 and later gifted to the Girl Guides before once again becoming a family home and wedding venue, Netherurd has a long history of happy memories. Our family was mad enough to take it on and have been lovingly renovating the house and land since 2021. The beautiful full-length drawing room makes the perfect spot to tie the knot, with incredible views over the thistle lawn and romantic decor.

There couldn’t be better photo opportunities, from numerous spots around the 24 acres of woodland and gardens, to the open spiral staircase, and the gorgeous frontage of the house. Whatever the Scottish weather, the backdrop here is beautiful and provides picture-perfect scenery for the special day.

We work with local suppliers such as caterers, florists and more, and can be as hands on or hands off as you like!

In addition to all of this, we have on-site accommodation for the newlyweds with our newly renovated Trefoil Cottage. Full of Scottish charm with lovely thistle-purple tartan wallpaper and a romantic wood-fired hot tub under the stars, there couldn’t be a better way to spend your first night as a married couple. The local area also boasts a wide range of accommodation to ensure that your guests don’t have far to travel!
